The Boat is a film by David Robinson and Bryan Michael Mills that is created entirely using a variety of Japanese mushrooms and stop-motion animation. The film was selected by a variety of prestigious international short film festivals during 2021/22 and recently announced ‘freshest fungi’ winner at the Fungi Film Festival in the USA.
The wave motif that runs throughout the film is created using finely sliced Erynjii (King Oyster) mushrooms and the opening scene is inspired visually by the beautiful and iconic print The Great Wave off Kanagawa by Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai.
